Building strength, confidence, and a community prepared to stand up.

Jewish Frontline is proud to announce the launch of the Jewish Frontline Defense Academy (JFDA), a new ongoing Krav Maga training program created in partnership with Rhamma Krav Maga in Rochester, Michigan.

The inaugural JFDA training season begins November 8, with professional two-hour training sessions held every other Sunday from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM.

The program is open to members of the Jewish community ages 14 and older, with no previous martial arts experience required.

And thanks to Jewish Frontline’s supporters, the training itself is completely free.

Participants pay only a $25 registration fee to reserve their place.

JFDA is built around one of Jewish Frontline’s core principles: peace through strength.

For too long, community security has largely been treated as something that happens around us. We hire security. We lock doors. We develop emergency plans. All of those things have their place.

But there is another piece of community security that can’t be outsourced:

Confidence.

When people know they are capable of protecting themselves, they carry themselves differently.

Fear becomes less powerful. Intimidation becomes less effective. People become more comfortable living visibly as Jews, speaking up when something is wrong, and standing alongside others who do the same.

That is why the goal of JFDA goes beyond teaching punches, kicks, or defensive techniques.

We want to help build a community of confident, capable Jewish advocates who refuse to be intimidated into silence.

JFDA isn’t another one-time self-defense workshop.

Real skills require repetition, practice, and continued training.

Students will begin with the fundamentals and progress through the established Rhamma Krav Maga curriculum under professional instruction.

Beginning students will work on foundational striking, movement, choke defenses, pad work, and practical self-defense. As their abilities develop, training progresses into stand-up fighting, ground defense, more advanced defensive situations, and eventually advanced techniques and weapons-defense concepts.

Students advance based on demonstrated proficiency and instructor evaluation, not simply the number of classes they have attended.

There is no promise that someone will reach a particular rank within one season.

The goal isn’t to hand out belts.

The goal is to develop people who actually know what they’re doing.

A Program Designed for the Long Term

The inaugural JFDA season will run from November through May.

Beginning with the following season, the Academy will operate on a regular September through April training calendar, with a break during the summer.

Returning students won’t start over.

They will return at their existing level and continue progressing.

Someone can walk into JFDA as a complete beginner, develop a foundation during their first season, return stronger the following year, and continue advancing through the Krav Maga curriculum season after season.

Jewish Frontline’s goal is to create the infrastructure to see committed students through the journey for as long as they’re willing to keep putting in the work.

JFDA is also introducing an equipment-support model designed around commitment.

Beginning students require relatively little protective equipment.

After six months of active participation, eligible students in good standing can receive reimbursement for approved boxing gloves and shin guards as they progress into training that requires them.

As students advance further and additional equipment becomes necessary, Jewish Frontline will purchase required equipment directly through Rhamma for eligible participants.

It’s a simple model:

The more commitment a student demonstrates, the more Jewish Frontline is prepared to invest in their continued development.

We don’t want equipment costs to become the reason a dedicated student stops progressing.

The first JFDA class will be limited to 30 participants.

Strong Individuals Build Strong Communities

JFDA isn’t about looking for confrontation.

It’s about making intimidation less effective.

It’s about developing the confidence to walk into a difficult situation without immediately feeling powerless. It’s about being willing to stand visibly as a Jew. And it’s about creating more people within our community who have the confidence to become advocates, organizers, leaders, and defenders of the people around them.

A stronger community starts with stronger individuals.

Build strength. Build confidence. Stand up for yourself. Stand up for your community.
